Our mission

Over the years, Norges Vel have redefined its mission relative, to be relevant to society's needs at any given time. It all began in 1809, when we were commissioned to develop an agricultural programme that would enable Norway to be self-sufficient in food.

Today, our mission is to create dynamic local communities through economic development and job creation. At the same time, we face formidable climate-related challenges and a global population will reach more than 10 billion by 2050, creating the greatest challenges ever to global food production. Accordingly, challenges associated with the climate change, sustainable food production and food security are at the very core of our mission today.
